roofing, and a rooster named Enchilada.

The last building trip to Winthrop was filled with summer camp, fairies, inflatable rattle snakes and old friends.

Annabelle got to go to fairy and gnome themed summer camp. She came back everyday covered in glitter and smiles with a metric F load of arts and crafts. F stands for fairy.

She also got invited to her first Winthrop Birthday party which was snake themed. There were about 30 inflatable rattle snakes floating around Perryaguin lake with a matching number of five year old's having the time of their lives, "swimming", splashing and generally trying not to sink by grasping onto as many inflatable rattle snakes as possible.

Annabelle also had her first run in with a rooster with bad behavior, which we nick named "Enchilada" . She survived the ordeal but is eager to eat the rooster.

Besides ensuring Annabelle had an amazing week filled with bountiful little people time we also did a lot of work with the roof. The building is 24 feet high which makes you 24 feet closer to the sun. As the temperature spiked passed 96 degrees it was really starting to shut us down. How do real roofers do this? We discovered yet another trade secret, Mariachi music. The energetic combination of string instruments with a hint of trumpet seemed to awaken the roofing spirits laying dormant in our souls. The louder the mariachi music played the cooler the temperature felt. If you don't believe me come on over next weekend when we put the metal on the roof and see for yourself.

After a day of working on the roof I started to think roofs were overrated and maybe our project would look pretty good without one. Roofs are perhaps a dose of lifestyle creep and consumerism. At some point Brandon tried to reassure me that roofs were not a trend and not going out of style and we should continue building one. I disagree, but Brandon stubbornly proceeded forward.

That night after working on the roof I sat on my camp chair and to my demise immediately flattened it. Concerned, I was turning into a foul mouthed construction worker who was eating too many little Debbie snack cakes I thought I'd get on top of my fitness. So I chose a running loop and I accidently ended up running 11 miles.

Mostly useless the next day, we were lucky that our friend Matt joined us. There are lots of great things we like about Matt.  I could go on all day about all his positive character traits but I'll skip to the point. My favorite thing about Matt this week is how tall he is and how he is not afraid of heights. Just like I remember from the climbing gym. Also being a climber when we put in the bucket he immediately tried to climb out the top. When he left, he had completely finished wrapping the house for us while Brandon sat around in an air conditioned excavator. What a guy!
